Travel credit cards

The general principle behind a travel-related affinity credit card is very simple: as you use the card, you earn points that you can redeem for travel-based rewards such as free flights, travel class / seat upgrades and hotel stays.

Some affinity credit cards (eg BA) specialise in these travel-related rewards, whereas others (eg Nectar) offer them as part of a wider catalogue of rewards.

Affinity cards issued in partnership with travel companies also usually offer a faster earning rate when the affinity credit card is used to buy their own travel services, although points can also be earned at a standard level wherever you use the card.
